Cell Phone Reimbursement Deadline
Please be aware that you only have until April 30, 2021 to request any retroactive cell phone reimbursement dating back to August 2020. After that date, you can only submit reimbursement requests for the current month. UASF Negotiations/Unions of SFUSD
3.22.21-Joan and Jolie attended the weekly meeting of the Unions of SFUSD.
3.22.21-Joan and Jolie had a meet and confer with Carrie to clean up older versions of our MOU to have a revised workable document.
3.24.21-UASF negotiation team met with the District team, (Carrie, Bianca, Ana, and Jason) and agreed on Article 4 from our Collective Bargaining Contract. Article 4.9 will provide $350 for every member of UASF to use for their own professional development. Details on how to be reimbursed for professional development expenses will be developed in the near future. UASF presented their revised MOU for Hybrid/In-Person/Distance Learning.
3.26.21-UASF Negotiation team met with the District Team, (Carrie, Jason, Bianca, Liliana, and Ana) and the District gave a counter offer to us. We met back with the District and gave them another counter offer. Our next session is March 31, 2021 with the District.
UASF Internal Meetings
3.22.21-UASF Ex. Bd.met and finalized a resolution to support Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans during the unfortunate increase in attacks against AAPI individuals during COVID and discussed how the Ex. Bd. wanted to respond to the situation involving Vice-President Collins making anti-Asian comments. The Ex. Bd. engaged in honest, sincere and sentimental dialogue related to anti-AAPA incidents and Vice-President Collins anti-AAPI comments.
UASF Executive Board Approved-Resolution to Condemn Attacks on AAPIA that was sent to members and to the BOE. The executive board representatives also approved the UASF Executive Board Approved Open Letter to Commissioner Collins that was sent on 3.23.21 at 4:00 PM and VP Commissioner Collins responded by 7:00 PM she is interested in participating in a restorative conversation with our UASF Exec Board after Spring Break.
3.25.21-Website-Caroline, Shelby, Jolie and Joan met with the website designers. We are just finalizing the details of the website and hope to be trained on overseeing the website after spring break. It took a little longer than we had hoped but we feel positive about the new website and hope to unveil it in the near future!
3.22-24.21-EDs-The EDs met and discussed how to continue to support and advocate for site leaders as they have continued challenges with short notice directives and the need for more clear and consistent information that is not left up to the interpretation of a supervisor.
EDs have consulted with Assistant Superintendents and Victoria Ramos for ADA accommodations and leaves for members who are unable to return in person to the site. Meetings with the District
3.26.21-EDs met with Joya to discuss expectations of site leaders. Joya was very receptive to the concerns we addressed and will follow-up as possible. We agreed to have a weekly meeting with Joya.
3.25.21-EDs spoke with LEAD to advocate for specific challenges that site leaders are having regarding opening their sites including to reconsider co-locating some of the secondary sites that would have major challenges to co-locate their sites to another site.
We were glad to see the City Wide 4/7 cancelled as you have requested.
3.25.21 Sharon and Caroline met with Dr. Priestly, CAO to discuss issues and demands related to supporting the re-opening of sites to hybrid and in person learning.
3.24.21-Joan spoke with Deputy Ford-Morthel today and reiterated the concerns from site leaders regarding short notice directives from different departments and the need for more consistent and clear communications regarding the reopening of schools.
3.23.21 Debra met with Raul to problem solve, review updates, and administrative changes. Debra encourages EED Principals to call or email her if they need any additional support or advocacy.
3.23.21 VP Ron Lee, Caroline and UASF designated Leadership Development Working Group (LDWG) representative Anastasia Klafter met with Kristin Bijur to discuss leadership development grant funding and the ongoing (multi-year) process to revise the administrator evaluation tools and process.
CAUSA
3.24.21-CAUSA-Joan, Debra, Jolie, Caroline, and Cheryl attended the monthly CAUSA meeting. CAUSA was represented by all their Districts at this meeting. (San Diego, Los Angeles, Long Beach, West Contra Costa, SFUSD, Oakland, and San Juan/Sacramento) We shared the status of our Districts returning to in-person learning, expectations of our members, positive successes in one another’s MOUs and agreed to continue meeting monthly even after COVID. CAUSA has been an incredible resource for UASF as we gather ideas and suggestions as to how other administrative unions have achieved successes in negotiations.
Reopening
Changes: We fought to have PK and SPED student family walkthroughs removed as a recommendation from the district website and as an additional responsibility for you. The District responded and removed this expectation from the Milestone list.
In your communications with families, you can acknowledge that the District /Central Office assigned your site’s opening date and you had limited no option in selecting schedule A or B it was based on multiple programmatic and logistic criteria. Moreover, the District will not allow a shift from schedule A to B at this date.
Your Professional Rights in our CBA must be upheld:
4.4 The District shall give direct legal and other related assistance in accordance with applicable law for any attack, assault or menace upon the administrator while acting in the discharge of his/her duties.
