UASF Updates #9 – 1.15.21
NEGOTIATIONS/MEET AND CONFER
1.13.21-Joan and Jolie along with the Unions of SFUSD met with the District to bargain over baseline standards for safe in-person school reopening. The unions presented counter proposals on community spread, testing, and contact tracing, and answered the District’s questions on those proposals. But the District team ended the session with no response to the union’s proposals, and with no dates to continue bargaining.
1.15.20-Joan and Jolie met with the Unions of SFUSD to strategize on how to best proceed with
the Meet and Confer sessions with the District regarding health and safety. We have been unable to reach agreement on the ground rules (even though we have continued to pass counter proposals) and we have not reached agreement on how we will continue to pass counter proposals. The Unions are committed to remaining in discussions with the District to reach resolution to health and safety, however, the District is seeking an option for either party to be able to end the Meet and Confer with the Unions of SFUSD and go back to individual negotiations for each union. We will update next week.
Note: Though the District has not yet announced a new date to begin reopening schools in-person, we need to keep the pressure on the District to reach agreement on the baseline protections; we need to keep staff, students, and families *safe* when school sites are open again.
